Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a member of an actual engineering team where I am currently on placement. These placements move around every few months so you gain lots of experience of different areas of the business. I am doing actual software engineering work as part of this, and it's given me a wealth of experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy all of it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
11 different programming languages, system modelling, database design, data analysis methods, improved communication skills, time management, discipline, responsibility, and other core skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured but my university leaves much to be desired. This training provider's failures are not the fault of my course though.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As much as I ask for and need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The university training provider leaves much to be desired in the way of academic support - however their inclusive needs support is amazing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It has been useful in stages with general concepts, but I found I learned more at work than I did at university.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
STEM Ambassador, Sports Teams, Clubs, etc

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a very good place to work. You learn on the job, are compensated fairly, supported continually, and given plenty of opportunities to develop and bring your own ideas to the table. I'd recommend it to anyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
When applying don't just focus on your academics, talk about your accomplishments outside of academia (e.g. volunteering, cadets, DofE, sports at area level, competitions, etc). Use the SMART system to answer your questions, and do your research on the company beforehand.
