Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
At the moment there is very little freedom to actually develop/curate the skills you want and its often left up to chance.
Those in charge of deciding on placements you will go on (and in turn what skills you learn) have very little actual knowledge of how the company functions or what each team/placement does, meaning some placements wont always be great in developing your engineering knowledge with some placements not fully knowing how to help you as a learner develop.
The Opportunities are there but you have to go out of your way to find them.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
Other than the general overall path the apprenticeship will take being readily defined it seems each year details are constantly changing making it hard for anyone including coaches and those in early careers to be confident in different processes. Changes and processes are often not very well communicated to learners or skills coaches causing difficulty in planning for the future.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
