Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Strategic leadership in driving forward the departmental capability strategy and creating a continuous learning culture. Involves stakeholder engagement at a senior level, line management of staff, consultancy to understand capability gaps and researching to find suitable learning. Management of a learning budget and communications to promote learning offer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme is expanding my knowledge of the wider HR profession as well as meeting my needs in building my knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable me to work as a strategic learning partner

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Although I already had a vast experience in Learning and Development, I felt an apprenticeship would give me the context behind my learned existing knowledge, skills and behaviours which it has met every step of the way. I have developed a more strategic outlook and consider my decisions based on evidence and theories.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is well structured but there is no option to defer module sessions if you fall behind. My cohort are all at different places which makes some virtual classroom session difficult as we are not all at the same place to have a meaningful discussion as part of the learning. The virtual sessions are usually only 45 - 60 minutes which makes them feel very rushed at times.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is fantastic, I have dedicated time of each week to study and if for any reason that is not possible another time is made available for me to ensure that I can study each week.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My Skills Coach is always available if I need them, they are supportive and encourage me when I have a wobble. They give really constructive feedback which helps me grow in confidence.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My Line Manager has seen an improvement in my confidence and knowledge enabling now working comfortably at their grade when they are on leave
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, social activities I do not get involved in as I live so far away from my workplace but I am a member of CIPD so get involved in professional networking events where I can.
