Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
An apprentice Facilities Manager helps keep the building running smoothly by carrying out daily checks, reporting and following up on maintenance issues, and supporting health and safety tasks like fire alarm and water checks. They assist staff with any building-related requests, help manage contractors on site, and complete essential admin such as updating records and systems. Their role is about keeping the workplace safe, functional, and well‑maintained while learning the full FM responsibilities.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
As an apprentice Facilities Manager, you’ve developed strong communication skills by speaking with staff, contractors, and your FM team every day. You’ve also improved your time‑keeping and organisation, making sure tasks, checks, and maintenance jobs are completed on schedule. You’ve built problem‑solving skills through dealing with unexpected issues around the building, and gained customer service skills by helping colleagues with their requests. On top of that, you’ve learned health & safety awareness, how to follow compliance procedures, and how to use FM systems for logging jobs and updating records.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
My programme has been fairly well‑organised overall, but as it is the first year of running it, there were times when people weren’t always sure what to do or how best to support my learning. At the beginning, this made the structure feel a bit unclear. However, as the year has progressed, things have started to pick up, and the programme has become much more organised. The team now understands the apprenticeship better, and the support, guidance, and planning have all improved, helping me get more out of the role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I would recommend CBRE to a friend because the company offers great benefits, clear opportunities for development, and a supportive working environment. The people who work here are one of the biggest positives—everyone is friendly, professional, and willing to help you learn and grow. Even as an apprentice, you feel included and valued. CBRE also provides access to training, resources, and career pathways that make it a great place to build your skills and progress in facilities management.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE Group?
If I were giving advice to someone applying to CBRE, I’d tell them to be confident and genuinely be themselves. CBRE is a place where people value honesty, personality, and a willingness to learn, so showing who you really are goes a long way. Don’t worry about being perfect—focus on showing your strengths, your enthusiasm, and your interest in the role.
