Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I used to love my job but the apprenticeship is putting a massive black cloud over it. I am thinking of leaving because of it. I have basically been told if I don't do the apprenticeship I don't have a job.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
Absolutely hate my apprenticeship - I'm 47 and not a school leaver! The apprenticeship isn't giving me the insight into my job role I still wouldn't know how to do a DWP fraud investigation. I have brought this up so many times now with DWP and the provider and no one listens.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
I haven't learnt the skills through the apprenticeship for my job role I have learnt these skills from actually doing my job

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
I have brought up my issues with the apprenticeship from the start which it actually tipped me over the edge and had to speak with the well being team! Neither DWP or the provider want to know as having the apprenticeship is a good tick box for them.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Again been told I have to do it, but I don't think anyone has actually looked at the apprenticeship to see how it doesn't relate to my job role! again its a tick box for DWP and for them to 'climb as high as possible in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers for 2026'
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
We don't get a qualification just a fancy certificate for 2 years of work! The assignments are too large, too much work to do and too much travelling (apparently 50% of learning needs to be done in England!)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Its hasn't I have learnt my role through doing my role!
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Department for Work and Pensions to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend doing my job if we didn't have to do the apprenticeship as it doesn't fit with the role and life if you have a family, as we aren't 16 year olds leaving school
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
Don't apply for a job with an apprenticeship with it
