Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Extremely well received, have been very considerate of my mental health and have been aiding me every step of the way. Training was intense at first but has levelled out now. I love have the option of working from home and working in the office. I love the flexi time option. The pay is amazing meaning I can do an apprenticeship whilst being able to pay for my life in general. The staff are all super friendly and I haven't met anyone who has not been yet. Overall best job I've ever been in. Love spending one day on the apprenticeship and the rest of the week learning the practical job, it is a great way to learn.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot more than I expected, I have learnt all about fraud investigations and working within the government, it has been an enjoyable experience.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program has had a few ups and down as it is fairly new, but despite that it has been extremely informative and rewarding. I would have liked more time on the initial overview/teaching of the role and felt a 2 month course on learning the whole job was a bit intense, but overall I enjoyed it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employers have been great, this is the first roll where someone has asked me how can they help with my mental health struggles (ADHD/autism). They've taken everything into account and have been patient with me. It was very hard when I started the job as I had also started a drug trial for ADHD and yet my managers where very open minded and constantly checking up on me. Helping me in small ways to assist me in every day life whilst on the job, from showing me a bathroom that I didn't feel awkward using and a wellbeing room to help me when I needed some quiet time. They have been very understanding no matter how embarrassing I felt my needs were, they have always been extra reassuring.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My trainer has been very good, constantly asks if I need any help, and has allowed me extra time to do my assignments giving me plenty of breathing room to get them done whilst working a 9-5 job. Despite the long powerpoints the provider gives, which works for most people but not for someone like me, gives out all the information at the end so I can go through it in my own time and doesn't expect me to stay attentive for the session as I believe he recognises that It doesn't work for everyone.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel the information provided is a lot more useful then some would believe. It covers important laws that all apply to our role, although I find parts to be very repetitive and sometimes unneeded.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of different things to get involved with at work, we have blogs to read, we have competitions to get involved with every month, there's sporting events throughout the year and events to volunteer for. I am not personally into sports but their are chat channels that talk about video games and pets, two things I'm very into. I kind of wish their was more practical activities for people who don't enjoy sports, but since i've just started I think their probably are i'm just unaware of where they are due to the VAST size of the DWP.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Department for Work and Pensions to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have already recommended it to my sister and friend, I informed them of the amazing benefits and flexibility the job has. I know my sister struggles managing family and work so I believe this job would be perfect for her, allowing her to work from home and look after her two children.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
I would tell them to consider going to a job centre and asking about the STARR method as well as asking if they would consider helping them with false interviews to boost their confidence. I would if I knew them help them apply for the job and show them how to use the STARR Method with their CV'S, or suggest asking co pilot and other AI's to help them research and come up with a loose narrative for Starr answers for the interview itself. I would also say don't be afraid of being yourself or being nervous, I asked several times for some room to breath in the interview and I was still hired (Which shocked me a lot).
