Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Change Management across a number of directorates on a daily basis. Running stakeholder calls, completing project plans, etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Learnt plenty new skills, mostly, dealing with poor leaders.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Terribly poorly, apparently have to redistribute a bunch of us with little explanation other than cost savings. Just ignore the continued recruitment they've been doing for other teams that weren't signposted to us mind you.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Little to none, from anyone above a G6.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Moderate amount of support from training provider, I wasn't lucky enough to have a provider that was quick to respond however. I knew others in my team though with different tutors that had nothing but praise though.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
We were forced on a project management course for a change management role, so it loosely translates but I'd argue we should have been on change management courses.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
There can be, if you pay for Hassra membership, but that doesn't guarantee your unit will run anything for you to take part in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Department for Work and Pensions to a friend?
No
Why?
Given the way the DWP is ran at the top, the poor opinion the DWP has by everyone, the fact it lies about pay scales as though you could ever hope to move up in it, takes half a year to do an Enabling Functions Review whilst taking on hundreds of people in similar roles to you, to then wait and force you to apply to keep your job.... I would only recommend working here to someone I disliked and wished months of anxiety and stress upon. It's not wonder staff satisfaction roles drop every year.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Work and Pensions?
Don't.
