Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I recently took on the role of Navigation Technician. This is a role based in the navigation department on-board submarines. It includes fault finding equipment, installations and general system updates.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I continue to learn new skills every day between theory aspects and practical aspects. As I still attend college, I learn somethings new every week of being there to eventually achieve my HNC qualification

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Lockheed Martin provide a great structure for apprentices. They allow apprentices to get three months in a variety of departments to allow them to get an insight to how each works and what they do. This personally allowed me to choose my role in navigation after spending 3 months with the department.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Both my employer and colleges are beyond supportive. They constantly ensure I am learning new skills but also push me out my comfort zone to try new things
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I get check ins every month to ensure I am confident in what is required to gain my qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The training helps with the theory side of my role. As my job is done through procedures, having theory background helps me be independent and not rely on the procedures
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I've personally been involved in lots of apprenticeship activities such as work experience weeks and STEM groups.
