Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I get to site at 7:30 and meet with my mentor to discuss what we are doing that day this could include elements of 1st fix, second fix, final fix, roofing, joisting and cladding. I would then load out materials that are required for the task at hand and set myself up. not matter the job my mentor teaches me safe, effective and efficient methods in how to complete the work. I then Pack up for the day at around 16:30 and ensure everything is left tidy for any other trades or inspections that might be happening.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it every much I have a great laugh with the guys that I work with and it creates a very enjoyable atmosphere. It also challenges me to become a more confident person which is why it I enjoy the job so much.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Confidence is one of the main areas I have developed in as the job challenges me to become more confident every day . For example speaking with customers, site managers and other trades to complete jobs.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is extremely well structured and organised as you always feel like you are kept up to date with your progress through the apprenticeship and you always know what the next steps are going to be.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support I have received so far has been outstanding from the company from the minute I joined. You always feel like they are there to support you every way they can and throughout the apprenticeship ensure you are well looked after.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from the training provide has been amazing always making sure they keep you up to date with your progress and helping you to achieve the qualification at the end of the apprenticeship.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

There are always social activities to get involved in even if it’s meeting up for a meal outside of work with colleagues or other trades.

Because the quality of the course is outstanding and the support you receive is really helpful to get on your journey to becoming qualified. The program for apprentices for this company is one of the best Ive seen in terms of the way it’s structured and the vast skill set you learn from it.
