Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a apprentice carpenter, i work with experienced carpenters to gain hands-on experience, learn industry technical requirements and gain an understanding of how construction projects are executed, my work includes learning to be responsible for a diverse range of carpentry tasks in an environment that supports me to finish jobs unsupervised, safely and to a high standard. Through this apprenticeship i can work up to more and more responsibility ie: to start with doing anything at first to eventually do some really good woodworking. Each day increases the technical ability and confidence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy being an apprentice carpenter because every day gives me the opportunity to learn something new and see the progress of my work firsthand. There’s a strong sense of satisfaction in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials, then stepping back and seeing my work come together knowing I played a part in helping build this house. I enjoy working with my hands, being active on site, and developing practical skills that will stay with me throughout my career. Working alongside experienced carpenters motivates me to improve, ask questions, and take pride in producing quality workmanship. Being an apprentice allows me to grow in confidence, responsibility, and skill while contributing to real projects that people will use and appreciate.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed strong practical skills in measuring, marking, cutting and assembling timber accurately and efficiently. Ive learned how to safely use a range of hand power tools, read and interpret construction drawings, and follow building regulations on site. Ive also improved my teamwork, communication, and time management skills by working alongside qualified tradespeople and contributing to projects from start to finish.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured and organised, with practical training. The units are set out in a logical order, making it easy to build skills step by step while applying what I learn directly to my work on site.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive all the support i need. If i ever need to ask a question to them about something i am confused about i can go to them and they will provide me with that awnser. If i have any problem with work, mental health anything. They will always be there to support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive alot of support when i am working towards my qualifications. They always help me if i am stuck or remind me if i am falling back in some work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I believe my qualification aids me in being able to do my job better, as it provides me with a theoretical understanding behind the practical issues that I deal with on site. The knowledge of how things are made (construction methods), regulations which must be followed (building regs) and care which must be taken to avoid injury or damage to human life when working on jobs, gives me more confidence in what i do and go the extra yard in delivery. It also serves to help me understand why things are done the way that they are and not just how to do them. This information increases the quality of my work, making me do less mistakes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
No, not that i know of
