Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Carpentry is a good trade to learn as there is always work and it is good money. A typical day on site is very intense but very enjoyable as you get to meet lots of new people and you get to speak to other trades and people in the same trade as you.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I like my programme a lot as there is lots of freedom. It is also very hands on which I like as I feel I learn much better that way rather than some just speaking to me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills while on my apprenticeship for example I have got a lot better at communicating with people as you are always around people on site.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well organised, we get checked on how our progress is getting on every couple weeks to much sure we are progressing and to make sure we are still enjoying what we are doing.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive a lot of support from our employer. If they feel we aren’t progressing in something they make sure that we take the time to get us were we should be.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We recieve a lot of support from our training provider as we have a van visit every few months so if there is something we feel we need more practice on they come out and help us with that.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that when I go out on these van visits It helps me improve on stuff I don’t feel as confident on so when I go back on site I am confident with the task.
