Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role was very varied and I had the opportunity to wear different hats during my time here. Generally, I focused on improving Governance, Risk and Compliance within the department, with the former, particularly reporting and process redesign - becoming my main area of focus. My days didn't follow a typical structure but were usually made up of stakeholder meetings, collaborative workshops, and solo work where I'd analyse requirements and produce documentation based on my conversations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It's been a challenging but amazing experience. I've been given opportunities I didn't expect (i.e. trips abroad) and have worked alongside colleagues who have become my friends.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Beyond developing the analysis skills and learning the related methodologies that are required to be a Business Analyst, I think the ability to communicate in different forms to a range of people would be the skill I'm most proud of developing during my time here.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
This would probably be my main criticism. I was entrusted with a lot of freedom over what projects I worked on and how I spent my time, but especially early on, not having a defined day-to-day plan to guide my efforts slowed my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Everyone I worked with from junior to senior position always were willing to book out some time to help with any blockers I encountered. My Line Manager was amazing, offering both technical guidance and creating a safe space where I could confide in them about challenges I faced. Having the freedom to be open and make mistakes without judgment was very important to my development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support was good, however I would've liked more regular contact.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The theoretical knowledge I developed regarding the principles and techniques needed to approach my projects as a Business Analyst was primarily developed during the various training weeks throughout my time here. These were critical in allowing me to perform well in my role
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are a number of sports teams, charity events etc. My main extra-curricular activities primarily consisted of the various conferences and networking events I attended. For example, I attended the DARE conference in London to discuss the implementation of AI within the remote services industry.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I definitely would. A good benchmark for how good a company is to work for is the tenure of its staff. At Computacenter, I rarely met anyone who wasn't a new apprentice that had been there for less than 10 years. When people join, they tend to stay for the long haul.
Based on my experience, I believe the main reasons for this are the open-mindedness of the senior leadership, the excellent opportunities provided, and the varied and dynamic nature of the work. Prior to joining Computacenter, I only knew that I wanted to go into the IT industry. The apprenticeship gave me an amazing opportunity to discover what suited me most, which as a young professional just starting out is extremely valuable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
Keep an open mind, the interviewer may recommend another role based on your conversation - really explore the new option and don't be hesitant to ask for clarification on their reasoning.
