Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently, my role regularly involves CAD work, working with mostly MicroStation Connect and AutoCAD to make changes to drawings and models based on markups or my own engineering decisions. I also set up drawings/models and process incoming data, as well as contributing to written logs that are relevant to these such as risk schedules or an incoming data log.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have a really supportive and helpful team at work who give me great opportunities to develop my skills and contribute my thoughts. I really enjoy working with them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Definitely to both. I have learnt lots of new CAD skills interacting with new software and new facets of the software I had not been exposed to before. I think all of my soft skills have developed since starting, particularly teamwork, communication and problem solving.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very clear structure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am consistently reassured that if I have any requests or questions I am able to raise them. I am given helpful and encouraging feedback regularly and I feel my confidence has grown significantly since starting.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I am also able to reach out for further support and drop in sessions for any questions are held as well.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think since I am only in first year, not much of the content has been particularly directly relevant to the role, but it is worth bearing in mind that it depends what projects I am working on as to whether the content overlaps, and I feel that the soft skills that university does contribute to, are mostly developed at work anyway.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is an excellent range and opportunity to propose anything you might want to. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly
