Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
I regularly interact with customers, providing assistance, information, and support where needed, including helping passengers with accessibility requirements. I am also responsible for managing fares or ticketing systems, monitoring passenger safety onboard, and dealing calmly and professionally with any issues such as delays, road diversions, or customer concerns.
Throughout my shift, I maintain high standards of concentration, professionalism, and compliance with company procedures, road traffic laws, and TfL regulations. I also work closely with controllers and colleagues to ensure services run efficiently and safely, contributing to a positive experience for passengers and the wider community.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
However, there have been some challenges at times, particularly around communication and support. There were moments where information relating to my disability was not passed on as it should have been, which made certain aspects of the programme & my job role, more difficult than necessary. Despite this, I have continued to engage positively with the programme and have found the learning itself to be beneficial.
In summary, while my experience has been mostly positive, I believe that improved communication and consistency of support would enhance the programme further.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have also developed existing skills such as communication, time management, and problem-solving, particularly when working in a busy or pressured environment. The programme has helped me become more confident in applying these skills day to day and adapting to different situations.
Overall, the programme has contributed positively to my personal and professional development, while also highlighting areas where additional support or clearer communication can help maximise learning outcomes.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
That said, there have been occasions where organisation and communication could have been improved, particularly around the sharing of information and the consistency of support. At times, this affected how smoothly certain elements of the programme ran. Despite this, the overall structure has allowed me to progress and develop my skills.
In summary, the programme is broadly well organised, but improved coordination and communication would further strengthen the learning experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
Despite this, I have continued to engage positively with the programme and make use of the support that has been available. I believe that clearer communication and a more consistent approach to support would significantly improve the experience for participants in the future.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
The training provider has been consistent in their communication and support, which has helped me stay on track with my learning and assessments. Overall, their support has played a positive role in helping me progress towards my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
The qualification has also helped me develop confidence and consistency in my work, particularly in areas such as safety, communication, and professional conduct. Overall, it has had a positive impact on how effectively I carry out my role, while continuing to highlight areas where ongoing support and development can further improve performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
No extra curricular activities
