Overall, how would you describe your experience at National Energy System Operator?
Excellent. I am learning a lot and love how broad it is. Everyone is very welcoming and will give you time to discuss areas that are important to you.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I am currently within the technical codes team. I have been working to improve processes within the team as well as joining in on the teams day to day job in modifying technical energy codes.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

I fell extremely valued. I am using what I have learned at universities and at previous roles on a day to day basis.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I am very happy in my role and will hopefully return to a similar position. The job is fairly broad and there are other roles within the company (which I may fall into) in which I will be able to use less of my current experience.

I have been assigned multiple support contacts including a line manager, team manager and multiple buddies. As part of a large graduate cohort I am also able to lean on those around me in similar positions.
How is your work-life balance?

Hybrid working is excellent for me. I enjoy my time in the office but sometimes working from home allows me to be productive in other ways and helps my physical/mental wellbeing.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

I have never worked in such a positive and welcoming environment. Everybody looks after everybody.

Excellent. We are constantly given training on diversity, equality, inclusion and accessibility. We are allocated resources and have multiple Employee Resource Groups available to us.

The National Energy System Operator has great initiatives, especially environmental. There are multiple goals the company is striving towards including governmental set goals.
