Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Lidl?
Very positive, we had a great welcome event with all the Graduate that were starting on all the different schemes, which meant we really got to know each other and was a great way to enter into the office and the scheme as a whole. Lidl is a very positive environment and the rotations within the scheme are great as you get to learn so much.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I have completed a rotation in stores, where I worked as a customer assistant in my local store for a month. This was very valuable as it meant I learnt about the processes of the company from the bottom up. I also did a rotation in an RDC for a month where I got to work in 4 different teams, each one teaching me about their role in the company and the the rdc which was very valuable for my role. I have been given the responsibility of organising and finding tenders from early on in my grad scheme. Lidl give you responsibility early on which makes you learn and progress more quickly, with guided support throughout.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
The responsibility means the Team trust you and want to work alongside you to complete the tenders and contracts together.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
The company car is invaluable as for my role I have to travel across the country to different stores and RDCs, meaning the company car is an incentive because I dont have to pay for these trips.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
The training in multiple disciplines is invaluable as you get to learn so many skills in different areas.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
My day-to-day role helps me to develop new and existing skills a lot, pushing me further every day. There isnt a lot of formal training as it is more learn on the job and as you go as Lidl dont teach you how to do things, you just learn as you go.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
The support received throughout the scheme, from application to working day-to-day is amazing. My line manager is fully supportive and the whole team encourage me to ask lots of questions to help support me.
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
Lidl work very long hours, starting at around 7:30 in Head Office and finishing at around 5 so it is hard to fit in personal time around this,=, but we are able to work from home 2 days a week so this helps slightly.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
3/5
We are able to work from home 2 days a week. The culture is welcoming, however it is a very fast paced culture so sometimes it is hard to offer full support whilst a busy period is happening.
How would you rate Lidl initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate Lidl CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
I have been able to volunteer in a local foodbank with the CSR team already during my scheme and I know there are more opportunities in the pipe line to do this. The CSR team are very present on Lidl internal socials and around the office, so we always know what initiatives are in place and the whole company are very keen to raise money however we can for our company charity.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lidl to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The training you get here is very valuable for future prospects and they really challenge you. You learn so many varied skills and experience many different aspects of the company.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Lidl?
Be yourself! The company want to teach people and so it is important that you are yourself so they know whether you will fit in with the team and whether they will be able to teach you.
