Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day jobs started off with the basics of finance which included invoice processing, raising PO`s. Maintaining the purchase ledger and speaking to various stakeholders to maintain the finance function of the organisation. As time passed i progressed to other tasks to expand my skills sets such as maintaining the fixed assets register, intercompany postings, and accruals and prepayments

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed it very much. To the extent that i still work at Oasis 7 years later in a managerial role continuing my professional skills and working through my exams to be fully qualified.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt loads. I started off with very little skills in finance and in the professional environment after leaving college Now, after completing my apprenticeships in AAT and moving on to study ACCA while moving up the career ladder. I have gained sufficient confidence and skills to carry out my new job role as National Finance Manager. I have had exposure to loads of elements of finance and had sufficient chances at Oasis to grow.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive tons of support from both my line manager and the managers around me to progress from someone who had very little knowledge in finance to where i am at now. I continue to get that support every day even after i completed my apprenticeship in both work and in real life. I think they have created a very supportive environment to learn.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I was very well supported from Kaplan as i had a coach who would guide me through the elements required to complete the apprenticeship.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5

Its provides the knowledge for you to learn in a classroom setting to which you can then apply to your work. I think both environments coupled together give you a great skill set to succeed.
