Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I provide admin support to a busy clinical educational MH team who are in different regions of England, supporting MH referrals, diary management, data input and solving admin crises; but also providing encouragement and support to them when a listening ear is needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It has helped me understand my admin role, putting it into the greater picture, not only of the charity I work for, but within the context of mental health and wider educational picture which overlap in my role.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

As this was a brand new area of work to me, I have learnt many new skills, especially in relation to financial processes of a business, and the importance of stakeholder management. I have grown in self confidence communicating with those inside and outside of my team, understanding the boundaries and dynamics.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I like the way that modules can be moved around to meet the needs of the apprentice, and this has been helpful for me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive backing and encouragement from my employer, and time to complete my apprenticeship requirements. It can be tricky at times to juggle to the demands of work and requirements of my learning, but I am able to have a conversation about this to negotiate them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

They are very responsive to my queries for guidance. Having a change of tutor was not expected, but the process has been managed well. The conversations we have are encouraging and also help keep me on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has given me a qualification that I can use for my career going forward, with plenty of evidence of this through the modules that I have covered. Its a great grounding for moving on, when the time comes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Oasis Community Learning?
OCL is an organisation that encourages continuing professional development and personal growth. It recognises that there are challenges in the communities around us and seeks to be an answer, working collaboratively to bring positive change and a sense of hope. The 9 Oasis habits are worked through every area of the organisation, which is fascinating and inspiring.
