Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During the one-week insight programme, my main focus was a clinical negligence real-life simulation. Each day, I reviewed the case materials, researched relevant case law, and analysed the key issues using LexisNexis. I worked closely with my group to discuss our findings, agree on a strategy, and prepare a clear, structured response to the scenario.
The programme also included skills sessions and group workshops where we shared our analysis and refined our approach based on feedback. Overall, my day-to-day work involved breaking down the problem, carrying out targeted research, and applying practical legal reasoning to reach a well-supported conclusion.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a meaningful level of responsibility throughout the programme. Even though it was a short insight week, I was expected to independently analyse the clinical negligence scenario, research relevant case law, and contribute my findings to the group. I also took responsibility for helping shape our team’s approach and ensuring our final response was well-reasoned and clearly presented.
