Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Volkswagen Group UK?
It's been really great, there's been so much support joining as an early careers employee with trainings, inductions, and a mentor; the culture is extremely welcoming; and the opportunities are endless!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My role involves maintaining two websites for VWG brands- updating the content across both from quarterly offers and articles for the brand universes, and facilitating the rollout of new and improved digital tools. I have been enjoying having the opportunity to lead streams that came out of customer research to improve the user journey across the websites.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I get to contribute to and lead lots of exciting new projects alongside my day to day tasks.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
There are many benefits that we receive as employees at VWG, from the ECO Car scheme, the opportunity to buy/sell holiday, join in pension scheme and cashback schemes. The proximity of the office to London however means that cost of living is relatively high in the area so the salary could be higher to account for this.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
My role exposes me to many different functions and stakeholders across the brands, and my team is always encouraging me to take opportunities to grow outside of my day to day role. I think we receive real responsibility and opportunities, while also receiving great support to learn and make the most of these opportunities.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
The training we received was really great for gaining an understanding for the various functions and operations of the wider business, but I think most of the skills I have gained so far have been through my role, where with the support of my team, I have been able to develop both soft and hard skills that I am continuing to develop.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
In my role, I have had great support and advice from my line manager, my mentor, the grad that handed over to me that was previously in my role, and from the other grads in my cohort- the support has been very comprehensive.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
The work-life balance for me has been really good- I am always encouraged by my team to leave on time and to take a break at lunch to go for a walk, and I never feel like my work is something that I worry about when I'm at home.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture at VWG is extremely welcoming- people are always happy to offer support, advice, or let you shadow them in their roles, and within brands and functions we have various opportunities to contribute towards this culture by supporting new initiatives like deskswaps or socials. The hybrid working here also offers a great balance with 60/40 days in office over the month (generally 3 days a week in office).
How would you rate Volkswagen Group UK initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
There are various Employee Network Groups at VWG that support women, carers, enabling accessibility, driving LGBTQIA+ support and more that anyone can join.
How would you rate Volkswagen Group UK CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
At VWG we all get 2 volunteering days a year to contribute towards a charity or organisation that we're passionate about; there is a huge push towards electrification across the business; and we have lots of opportunities through the Employee Network Groups to make a difference to people in our surrounding communities.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Volkswagen Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The culture, people, brands, and opportunities.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
I was slightly unsure about what my role would entail, but as I joined the Marketing and Customer Experience Grad scheme, I think my role and future rotations across the business offer a very comprehensive learning experience that is exactly what I was looking for (working in digital marketing, performance marketing, and customer experience).
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Volkswagen Group UK?
Just be yourself! As much as you want to stand out and be recognised during the application process, the business has to be a good fit for you.
