Technology Consulting Summer Internship Review

This role involves shadowing senior associates, managers and senior managers in their every day tasks as part of a project. Tasks include research, updating slides and spreadsheets as well as attending meetings.

I was given a pivotal role in shadowing a senior manager on a project with an important client. I was responsible for doing research tasks about the product and how it works, as well as helping with formatting slides for a final presentation.

I've developed my networking skills of taking the initiative in reaching out to others in the office and virtually. I also developed my time management and presentation skills through my time at the internship, as well as being an effective communicator to seniors who may not have much time for meetings.

I was well-supported throughout the internship. I felt valued and understood every step of the way even when things got a bit hard in the middle of the internship. I was always told that people were happy to listen and was given options for who to approach for help.

The flexibility to work from home or in the office with personal choice was a huge plus. In addition, being part of a project and treated with an equal footing in terms of pitching ideas and feedback has really made me feel like a valued member of the team.

I enjoyed the challenging work that came with the internship, which involved a lot of critical thinking and not just repetitive tasks. However, the start of the internship felt like a bit of a slow start.
