Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at CBRE Group?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the CBRE Next Gen programme so far. The support has been exemplary. The early careers team put a lot of time, effort and money into ensuring our induction int the company is as welcoming and supportive as possible, ensuring that we make those meaningful connections amongst our peers at such a crucial stage in our career journey. Furthermore, the continued discussions and quarterly check-ins with the rest of the cohort have been really reassuring and a good way to find out about each others' experiences within different teams and locations across the company.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I am currently on my first rotation on the commercial real estate graduate pathway and thoroughly enjoying it. Being a part of the team and having the chance to contribute work that is meaningful is something I find really important. I have particularly enjoyed attending site visits as well as creating content to deliver across to clients on behalf of the team. Being given that responsibility is something I really appreciate as I recognise the importance of doing a good job given that the reputation of the company is as the forefront of everything I do.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Yes absolutely. Any client entertaining or travel costs are fully reimbursable and the benefits we as employees receive are very generous. As grads, we are granted 2 years free access to the onsite gym and a significant perk of the company is the in-house canteen, when excellent quality food is subsidised and available to purchase at a discounted rate. Furthermore, any travel to and from site inspections which deviates from your standard commute to work are recoverable in order to ensure you are never out-of-pocket.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Most definitely. The hands-on experience and opportunity to rotate around the company on a purposefully curated graduate scheme is the perfect first steps into the industry and the company as a whole. Being able to experience different teams and departments during my time is something I believe to be crucial in preparing me for my future career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Certainly developing new skills, as the work itself is extremely different to anything I've done before. However, I find this to be crucial in further bettering my hard and soft-skills as well as increasing my commercial awareness and understanding of the industry.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
The support I have received can only be described as second-to-none. The HR team go above and beyond to ensure we feel supported and that our transition into the company runs as smoothly as possible. The establishment of the next-gen buddy scheme also ensure that we have chance to communicate with another pre-existing grad at the company, who is more than happy to answer any questions or queries we may have prior to as well as during our time at the company. The first week of inductions sessions were also really informative, providing some background information around business etiquette, expectations and company history.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Whilst my role involves working rather long hours, this is entirely voluntary as I choose to spend this time helping the team with any additional work that needs doing by the end of the day. I know that in general, all grads are able to manage their work-life balances really quite well, and if there is something you want to do, or somewhere you would like to go after work, this is more often than not possible.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
There is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere around the company with the addition of social networks and sports clubs to join to satisfy a variety of interests. The social setting within the office too encourages people to talk to one another, particularly around lunchtimes with the canteen-style seating arrangements.
How would you rate CBRE Group initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
The CBRE networks are a huge supported of DEI, allowing people to discuss either their own experiences or support others.
How would you rate CBRE Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
We are permitted to take a day to take part in a volunteering initiative. The company also nominates a charity to support in which all fundraising events are targeting. This could be sponsored runs, rowing competitions, bake-sales you name it!

Recommendations & Advice

Yes
Why?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the company so far, and would highly recommend it to my peers.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
Very much so, if not better.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to CBRE Group?
Know the company inside out certainly helps, but most importantly, show your enthusiasm for learning and passion for the industry. The industry is built on social networking so what the company is really for is the soft skills you bring to the table.
