Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
The apprenticeship scheme I am on is a rotational one, meaning I get the opportunity to work in 4 different teams over my 4-year programme. This is great as it means my experience will be very broad once I'm qualified and gives me a great idea of what area I would like to specialise in. This also means my day-to-day will vary throughout the programme which will keep things exciting. Regular tasks for me at the moment though include lots of site visits (my favourite bit), alongside lots of emailing, meetings and spreadsheets.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I feel really well supported by CBRE which means that in turn, I really enjoy my programme. Personally, I find the on-the-job work more enjoyable than the university aspect of the programme, as it encompasses so many different aspects of work. But I've never once loathed coming into work - the people not only in my team but the whole company are amazing as they are incredibly supportive and friendly which means coming to work is a pleasure.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Absolutely. I've gained so many skills since starting my apprenticeship it would be impossible to list them all. I personally believe an apprenticeship is the far supreme way to develop your real-world skills compared to going to university, given how easy it is made to put said skills into action in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is well structured overall, I'm always given my allocated 1 day-a-week study day without fail, and this is on a consistent day of the week except in very rare circumstances where it has to be moved. But what I'm doing and when I'm doing it is regularly set out in a clear manner which I can easily understand.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have regular check-ins with my manager where we ensure we're aligned on my professional goals and what I want to achieve. We also have lots of CPD and APC training sessions provided throughout the year to develop the skills and knowledge which will be required for my end-point assessment which all proves to be very helpful and in turn, I feel very well supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The University aspect of the pathway is provided by UBE, who have some solid provisions in place if you're struggling. You have access to extensions for assignments if you're struggling, alongside the opportunity to book a 1-1 with a tutor if you need extra assistance.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Whilst the course is relevant and great for building my background knowledge of real estate and the built environment, so far I feel it has had a limited impact on helping me to do my day-to-day role. I feel my ability to do this is far better supported by CBRE and the experiences they provide compared to UBE's provision.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many extra-curricular events to be a part of - at CBRE we have different networks where you'll get to connect with like-minded individuals (for example, our Women's Network or Family Network) and there are plenty of social events/sports teams to be involved with so there genuinely is something for everyone. There are also so many professional networking events to attend in the property industry, and they're all open to people of all levels, from an apprentice right through to executive directors which proves to be brilliant for connecting and building your network.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CBRE Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Absolutely yes. Working for CBRE is great, it's a genuinely friendly company to work for which makes going to work a pleasure and you'll meet some fantastic people along the way. You'll also get loads of amazing experiences throughout your scheme that make a huge difference, and the property industry on the whole is a great one to get into as it's incredibly sociable and you'll be completing work that you can see makes a real difference.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE Group?
Throughout the whole application/interview process, just be yourself and be honest - otherwise they will see right through you!
