Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Premier Foods?
It is amazing here: 50% hybrid working. You get a grad buddy from the year above, your line manager and a Director in the business as a mentor! Plus they give you a 2 week introduction which is really fun all the grads are in hotels for a week. They also give you 10-15 training days where external people come in as well as IGD etc trainings. The culture is amazing so positive, and uplifting truly a great place to work!!
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Brand Marketing - So you are spread across a lot of exciting things. Mostly the job is split into two parts 1. is the proactive side where we are looking at the markets using data mostly to define areas for our brands to grow into big or small. The second is reactive constantly reviewing our product portfolio to find improvements and fix any issues. You are a very central function, ideas come from marketing and your job is to align the teams across sites and agencies to deliver the vision.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Already had so many opportunities to lead and add value to team. Your voice is heard despite being a billion pound business, the business loves feedback from anyone. Very good team culture here.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Pay is fairly standard for a Graduate role 30k which steps up to 40k and a guaranteed ABM role at the end of it (18 months). So there is clear career progression. They have well defined competencies so you can constantly see the next step and as said earlier about a Month in total if not more is all dedicated to training so feels more than fair.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Amazing - three people coaching you, clear defined role progression. Well established grad schemes, very careering HR & young career advisers.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Again brilliant company for this. Day to Day you are learning from high level professionals who have all had a diverse background from high quality universities and from top of the food chain FMCG companies etc. The business wants you to go grow and progress to help the business grow and progress.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
HR is amazing, then you have a pool of graduates from the year above who make an effort with you and help you settle in. You get a graduate buddy who you can meet with whenever - i do every 2 weeks. There is a mentor who is a director, I meet them every two weeks. Then you have your line manager who I meet twice a week at the moment one for learning one for discussion. First two weeks you are in a hotel with all the new grads having dinner together and after that you are like best mates.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Hybrid culture, so long as you get your work done nothing really matters. I have one set day a week I have to come in as we do a lot of meetings that day. Other than that I can do whatever. Finish at 3 on a Friday. We have 1hr lunch's to stop burn out. The office coffee machine and toast is amazing.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The business lives and breaths it's culture but in a really relaxed way. No one is forcing you but the soft culture really guides you nicely to it. It's infectious .
How would you rate Premier Foods initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
The company has ERGs which are teams / groups which you can join and be apart of. These run awareness days such as women in work, Ethnic origins, Men's mental health etc. The main thing is the business is ran on fairness. One of the SLT team spoke to me and said his main radar for decisions is "is it fair". At the end of the day tough decisions have to be made which people won't like but if you can validate it as yes maybe it tough but at least it is fair then that is good enough for me :). It's nice to see that thinking from a business leader.
How would you rate Premier Foods CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Amazing, we are a leader in ESG, from the first week you are given a really great talk on the businesses enriching life plan. Constant reminders on how you can make a difference. Volunteering days that count as a work day to support charities and functions etc. There is so so much

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Premier Foods to a friend?
Yes
Why?
For me in marketing I am working with globally recognised brands (Mr Kipling and Cadbury's), learning how to build and maintain a brand, take it to its next step of evolution. I get involved in new product ideas, new campaign strategies, partnerships, commercials, operational challenges. It is a great mixed role! No day, week, month is the same. Food moves so fast as is influences massively by the seasons and now it is moving to a digital world which makes it even more unknown but exciting. You pair all of this with the Premier having a soft, reflective, team oriented culture and a real focus on development and keep staff long term it is hard not to love.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
If anything they play down how great is it is. Work is work at the end of the day. All you can ask for is that some weeks, days, moments, you do not feel like you are working but being apart of something truly exciting. That is what you get here.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Premier Foods?
For marketing, show interest in more than design etc, we are insight heavy, it is not crazily mathematical but showing understanding of insights and data or commercial awareness can go a long way. Also the team side of it is loved as well,
