Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?
The experience at JLR has been amazing. I joined with a cohort of 10 other Graduates, all of whom get on very well. The offices are big, exciting and new. I have been treated like a member of the team from the beginning and have been left to make my own mistakes knowing I am very well supported. The product is exciting and different, with plenty of opportunity to get involved wherever I can. The Creators Code is something that is carried with pride through the company and means everyone is treated equally.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibility so far has been sourcing and sourcing strategy. This means taking a part for a future launch vehicle and going through looking for suppliers, requesting quotes, refining, visiting suppliers, negotiating and signing contracts. The other side is strategy, so understanding the products and navigating the environment to find the best way forward for sourcing components. I've enjoyed the sourcing side the most because it's people focused and involved stakeholder management and having difficult conversations, but always looking for the result that is right for the business. I'm certainly learning alot.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I've taken on real sourcing project while in my role in Seating. This part was due to go directly onto the vehicle, and it was my job to manage this. If I didn't do my job properly and didn't complete my due diligence then this could have led to timing delay and bigger issues. The team really valued my input on other tasks as a fresh face coming in. I also could every opportunity to learn and listen, you would be suprised how much you learn and what info people are willing to part with.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
The perks and benefits are pretty good. You get IWW which helps to increase the pay and if the company performs well there can be a bonus available, but this is once graduated. It pays very well and you are in control to decide when you want to work from home and office, which gives a nice level of flexibility.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
The role is preparing me well for my future career in procurement, I am learning all the skills and getting a good knowledge on how I can progress further once the role is complete.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I am developing new soft skills all the time. 20% of your time is dedicated to training, but you can organise that how you wish. There is formal training offside which is very interactive and fun. There is also existing skill development through day-to-day work and the option to join different workstreams to expand your knowledge base further.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I have a supervisor, buddy, manager and senior manager. I can also arrange to have a mentor. There is such a range of options available for support.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work life balance is good, it's quite flexible. I believe the core hours are 9am to 3pm to support our colleagues abroad, but as long as you work the hours there isn't an issue.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Hybrid working is flexible and values of the company with the creator's code is fantastic.
How would you rate JLR initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
How would you rate JLR CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5

Yes
Why?
I would because it is the perfect place to step into the working world, with the opportunity to take on as much work as you like.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
The role is more real work than what I would expect of a graduate, which is really good as you learn quick!
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?
