Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?
The JLR experience has been fun and thought-provoking. The people I've connected with have all been quite friendly and welcoming, especially all the managers who act as tutors to further your development. It felt nice that some managers were good at allocating enough responsibility to make you feel important as soon as you join a team, whereas some it is understandably difficult to allocate a job for someone who had just joined. Other than that, the experience has been quite enjoyable for me.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I've been in teams which are more fast paced, especially when I first started in exteriors. This included testing hands-on the cars and collaborating with parallel teams to reach one goal. Other teams were off cycle and were slower but gave me a chance to learn and connect more, this definitely improved my morale in these moments working alongside the people.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
The team I am in now (software Web app development) includes spearheading some components and workflows through an internal app we're (team of 5) developing, which definitely helps me feel included and accountable for the work I do.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
A comfortable salary to live on, considering moving out of my hometown and having a car.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
Very well, the company does well to lead you into a managerial/ leadership role, especially with Ashorne Hill insights training and GIC work. The people around you are mostly supportive and helpful with this.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
Good, been mostly fast paced and given a good amount of responsibility

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
Chartership, placement and line managers have all been very helpful and wise regarding how to follow a journey similar to theirs.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Great, been nice working from home to allocate extra free time to hobbies/chores/socialising
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
4/5
Mostly very welcoming and diverse, can sometimes feel a little bit too corporate depending what team you're in, could be harder for early careers to fit in. But mostly very relaxed
How would you rate JLR initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
Company does well to make people fit in, personally been great for me but can't comment on behalf of others, hence why the 4/5.
How would you rate JLR CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
Volunteering experiences from what I hear are great, though I haven't participated, it seems like a great initiative to get people networking and building the outer community.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great work life balance, friendly people and fulfilling career prospects to build on
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
Quite well, applied for a engineering/problem solving opportunity which guides my career trajectory. Just wish I could utilise more of my university engineering knowledge more, feels more project manage-y instead
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?
Think in the shoes of a project manager, think of the widest scope you can and work your way down when approaching problems. It is a very useful skill to have in this company.
