Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My day-to-day role as a Building Surveyor at CBRE generally consists of assisting the Chartered Surveyors with work pertaining to dilapidations, TDD condition surveys, contract admin work, and schedule of conditions. I get the opportunity to travel to attend site, help write reports, and get to see how the built environment works.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The Next Gen apprentice and graduate programme at CBRE is brilliant. I have been here for a little over a year, and it is only getting better.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills, particularly relating to the job a Building Surveyor undertakes. I have a greater understanding of how the law impacts dilapidations negotiations, how different types of construction types can result in different defects, and the process of tendering work for large scale projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is incredibly well structured and organised. There are constant updates and communcae surrounding the APC process, information related to studies, work opportunities, and network opportunities throughout the business.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive as much support as I could possibly need. I am supported via my own team, my office, and the wider business where relevant.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. The university holds regular meetings to ensure I am on track and understanding of the elements needed to progress in my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification is a fantastic way to supplement the technical knowledge I learn whilst working in my day-to-day role. I find that I notice things on inspections, that then come up in my studies that help develop my knowledge, and vice versa.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra-curricular activities. In this past 12 months, I have participated in rounders, more networking events than I can count, a boat trip, virtual football, padel, and run club.
