Retail Space Management & Consumer Experience Intern Review

I designed and maintained a centralised Master Door List in Excel, standardising data formats to streamline cross-departmental information sharing and resolving a previously unstructured process. I independently travelled across the UK and EU to conduct in-store audits using agency-provided documentation, compiling detailed reports that were shared with both internal and external stakeholders, significantly enhancing confidence and accountability. In collaboration with the Visual Excellence team, I supported store launches and the development of new retail concepts by creating visual merchandising guidance using PowerPoint, NOVA, Excel, and CAD files. I also led the Logo Roll-Out Project, demonstrating strong project management skills through stakeholder coordination, progress monitoring, and ensuring timely delivery. Additionally, I utilised internal systems such as SAP Ariba to raise purchase orders from vendor quotes and maintained financial clarity via a comprehensive budget tracker sheet. I contributed to the end-to-end development of new retail concepts for in-store implementation, managing key stages and working closely with cross-functional teams across the business. Throughout my role, I handled a wide variety of ad hoc tasks, further strengthening my adaptability, time management, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Yes I was given are large amount of responsibility during my placement as my team consisted of me and the senior manager. This meant that I was able to be in charge of more projects and tasks than perhaps other interns which helped me greatly develop my personal and professional skills.

My communication and organisational skills have significantly strengthened through regular coordination between the account team, the brand, third-party agencies, and wider departments such as marketing and sales. Additionally, my independence and confidence were greatly enhanced by travelling solo across the UK and EU for work, as well as actively participating in team-building activities with colleagues I had not previously met. These experiences pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow both professionally and personally.

My line manager provided me with amazing support and guidance throughout my internship through regular one-to-one meetings where we reflected on my progress. She provided me with in depth performance standard review which was conducted half-way through my placement year and at the end which was greatly beneficial for reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses. I also was provided with feedback from wider team members, the Sports Direct team and the agency which we worked closely with.

The culture and general atmosphere at adidas was amazing, everyone was so kind and open to help me no matter the circumstance. They made you feel like a member of the team straight away and even those who weren't my direct contacts were so open to help - no question was ever too much or too silly.

I throughly enjoyed my placement at adidas and it provided me with so much more than I expected.
