intern Review

I was an intern in Authorisations, more specifically Consumer Investments & Appointed Representatives (CIARA) division. I interned for 10 weeks with half a week of induction at the head office in London.
My home office was Edinburgh and had a standard 35 hours working week with a dedicated line manager in my home office, a department grad buddy and another grad buddy who were both based in London.
As for the day to day working, all interns worked on multiple projects, you would be assigned a personal project and a group project. The overall environment is very healthy, with colleagues always open for a chat, which enables you to develop and grow. You get to learn a lot on the regulatory environment and if you have training days outside your home office then early careers team takes vey good care of you in terms of hospitality and expenses.

I had worked on a personal project with and 8 week deadline and another being a group project with the same deadline. It was very manageable with some weeks being busier than others

I developed corporate literacy, critical thinking and regulatory framework

Support and guidance was very good. There was a time where I felt a bit unguided with annual leaves, but if you make it known then it is very well handled thereafter
