Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
I have had a great experience at the FCA. Colleagues are supportive and proactive in enabling my development, and I have been given plenty of opportunities beyond the day job to support various communities and attend networking events. I have learned a lot about data science since onboarding onto the grad scheme.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Supporting data science-focussed projects with different groups of stakeholders. Extracting data, cleaning, processing, analysing all the way through to building predictive models.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I think the salary ought to be higher, especially for those of us working in the London office. The other perks are good.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
4/5
From what I understand, the data science platform we use at the FCA is quite different from what is done in other organisations. There are also areas like MLOps that grads most likely won't get exposure to.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
The FCA grad scheme provides many avenues for the development of both technical skills and soft skills.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I have received an abundance of support since joining the organisation. There are lots of mentorships schemes available, and plenty of comms from different streams.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
The FCA grad scheme offers a really good work-life balance from my experience.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The FCA provides a healthy and supportive culture. I enjoy working nearby the other grads when in office.
How would you rate Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
The FCA has lots of cultural/faith networks, so any new joiner can find a community in which they belong.
How would you rate Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5
Again, lots of avenues to get involved.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good work-life balance, supportive colleagues, and plenty of opportunity to learn.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Do your research before applying- read around what the FCA does, recent projects and why they interest you. Be authentic in interviews.
