Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Good. Good balance between Civil Service WLB with Financial Sector workload and accountability.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I supervise a portfolio of IB's 1 on 1. I am enjoying reviewing companies regulatory submissions and assessing for risk.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I feel like there is a lot of responsibility in this role compared to my friends at other organisations.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
I think it is good. Start at 36k with a 2.5k starting bonus. If you pass your probation after 6 months you get a pay rise to 40k PA. This would mean that the starting salary is 40k for the first year. On top of this we get various perks like free private healthcare, 2k to spend on benefits and a 8% non-contribution pension.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
I chose this role to help with my future career prospects. I am not sure any other graduate role could better place me.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
I am definitely gaining new skills like external emails, risk analysis and data management.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
I feel well supported. I have a line manager and also a senior associate I work with closely. I also have 2 graduate buddies from around the organisation. I also have a directorate buddy from an adjacent team.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
I am yet to work past 5. I have logged on before 9 but out of my own choice, not external pressure.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Culture is strong, relaxed but accountable.
How would you rate Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
I'd say mostly good. Good volunteering leave and network selection.
How would you rate Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
I'd say mostly good. Good volunteering leave and network selection.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good pay, good benefits, nice office, good opportunity for career progression, good exit opportunities, broad and thorough introduction to the financial services industry.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
I'd say the firm has reflected what I assumed it was. I was unsure on what the roles were before joining.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Focus on why the FCA, they like to know people are doing it for the right reasons. For example, I used a personal experience to state why I am interested in consumer interest, this links strongly to a core pillar of the FCA.
