Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Very good. Good graduate salary. There is a good work life balance and flexible work with hours and hybrid. Very welcoming environment for grads as there is a big cohort and the whole organisation wants to help you thrive.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
The main elements so far have been attending firm meetings and taking notes, doing research, supervising and analysing firms and seeing if they are adhering to regulations. I have enjoyed the firm meetings the most so far.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Great salary for grads in London. Above average but obviously not in line with parts of the private sector. This is made up by the fact work less less intense eg FCA will not be requiring graduates to work 70-100 hour weeks like banking. There is also a graduate allowance so effectively on your first pay cheque a bonus as well. There is salary uplift every April too.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend the FCA for a few reasons. It is inclusive, DEI and charity work are integral to the organisation and there have been many initiatives so far relating to this. Everyone at the organisation wants you to succeed so there is always help offered and helps one really learn and grow. There are great salaries relative to progression and being public sector facing. The office facilities are great and office kitchen is very good. Minimum attendance is only 2 days a week too which helps with flexibility and personal life matters.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Make sure to focus on the FCA values but also to think about how each situation affects consumers and the public. Try to mention protecting consumers especially vulnerable groups as this is key to the work the FCA does.
