Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The internship lasted about 2 months, and I had a host of jobs; from weekly work on updating my division's financial metrics that were published, to monthly work (which I only had to do twice). I also helped out with PowerPoint presentations, updated some Excel workbooks, chased up on people to remind them of deadlines, generated visual financial data, and the odd bit of financial analysis input (which was reviewed by my manager before submission).
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a good amount of responsibility. I never felt there was no work to do, but I was never overwhelmed. My manager also let me take ownership of my work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I learnt how to use Excel and improved my Python skills considerably. I also learnt about organizational structures in big companies, a little bit of financial planning and forecasting, and some soft skills like presentation and networking.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
My team was very supportive and provided help any time I needed it. Also, we each got a buddy (a graduate) whom we met once a week, and they were very supportive. We also had a mentor (a graduate) and the culture was one of: 'Don't be afraid to ask'.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was very chill to be honest. Everyone was very positive and genuinely did seem happy to be there. Working hours were good as well, most people left when the shift ended, except at crunch times like month-end end when they had to meet packed deadlines. Also work from home policy was good, you only needed to be in the office twice a week (I preferred to go in every day though). We also got free fruits and snacks every week and occasionally some free food so good vibes
