Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
NatWest has a very friendly and welcoming culture. Being part of such a large graduate cohort is fantastic as it is a well established programme which encourages networking across the business. The expectations are reasonable and work demands are manageable which is perfect for a graduate role. learning is also strongly encouraged. The one downside is lack of clarity around obtaining a permanent role after the programme, as it is not strictly guaranteed.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Have been in 2 teams so far and have made meaningful contributions in both. My first team I built a dashboard as a data analyst. In my second team I contributed to the building of 3 traditional machine learning models as a data scientist.
There have also been side of desk opportunities that include being on a marketing council to prepare content to go on early talent social media. Also, have bene in a working group to help deliver resources to the rest of my graduate cohort.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

Yes, although the salary may not be as high as other companies, I think the expectations and culture make up for this. There is not health insurance included which is a negative, but overall I think the 10% of pension funding on top of a reasonable base salary is good.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

How is the support you receive?

Support is really good- I have a buddy in the cohort above who has been great with advice and being transparent about his experiences. Have a really supportive graduate coach and then a placement manager that changes. Regular catch up with all parties to ensure I am receiving the right amount of support required.
How is your work-life balance?

Although no formal flexible working policy, the culture supports flexible hours. Can work from home where required and no expectation to stay beyond usual working time.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

Positive and welcoming when in the office. Personal preference is to come in to the office ~3 days a week although expectation is only 2 days a month.
