Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
The graduate scheme at NatWest feels like an extended uni and is a good way to introduce yourself to the professional working environment. Everyone in the bank is friendly and supportive with lots of opportunity to learn and grow.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a software engineer, a lot of the role was learning the tech stack involved in development - each team use their own. Some developmental work which the team does regularly but also side projects with help with learning. These are mostly proof of concepts but usually get implemented by the team. Depending on which team you are assigned the work load can vary.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

The pay at NatWest is definitely lower than the competition, however the wellbeing and work life balance is much better.

Everyone at NatWest is supper friendly and supportive. In the office you can have a chat with anyone. Even senior leaders make time for you.

There's a good work-life culture in the bank. Most mangers are flexible.

There's a lot of CSR in the bank and more opportunities to get involved. You get 3 volunteer days a year towards it as well

There were some changes to the grad scheme over time. There are no more rotations for new software engineers graduates :(
