Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
It's been a great place to develop my skills in the area. Everyone is really interested in seeing you succeed and they provide lots of training to help get you to a position to do the job even if you come form a non tech background.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
You do 4 placements during the 2 year graduate scheme. I have done a data analyst, data scientist and machine learning engineering placement so far.
Data analyst- meeting with stakeholders and creating business insights from complex data.
Data scientist- creating agentic AI projects.
Machine learning engineering- automating the retraining of models.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

There are lots of opportunities to present to stakeholders and others in the bank through various forums and spotlight sessions.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

Lower than the industry standard currently but is increasing next year and you're guaranteed a job at the end of the scheme.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

Some teams give you more training than others but you can source your own placements so make sure to ask about what training they will give you and work with people who have specialised in the area you want to work in.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

The teams are always open to you working on projects that interest you and give you development opportunities.

This is dependent on who you get and how much capacity they have but you can reach out to other people and they're more than happy to step in as needed.
How is your work-life balance?

I never work outside my contracted hours and we're encouraged to take walking meetings where possible.

There are lots of networks you can join to find people who share your values so I would seek these out if you don't find it in your immediate team.

They're making a push to be inclusive and didn't remove their DEI policies when the US did.
How would you rate NatWest Group CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

You get 3 volunteering days and there are lots of spotlight talks on teams who work on CSR initiatives.

Why?
It's a great work life balance and there are a range of networks and groups to join. Alongside this, you develop your skills over the scheme and have the opportunity to work on a range of projects.
