Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at NatWest Group?
I appreciate how the company values innovation, curiosity, and diversity. As someone who needs work visa sponsorship, I felt lucky to work for NatWest Group, as the graduate scheme not only sponsors my visa but also allows me to explore different tracks and roles within the digitization realm such as product owner, business analyst, and project management. There are also some grads events from council and working groups where you can connect with grads from different programs and cohorts. Overall I think this is a good place to be if you have a passion for working in a high street bank while still willing to try a couple of different tracks.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I did my first and second placement for AI & FI, where the first one focuses on UI improvement, accessibility, and testing, and the second one focuses a lot on governance, journey analysis, and incident management. I enjoy learning how the most popular technologies such as AI are being applied in the real business world and drive growth and service efficiency.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
Even if I'm a grad, my placement manager still got me involved in a lot of high level decision making discussions, trusted me and expected me to take ownership of the team's tasks.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
There are a lot of options you can choose from, from shopping cards, travels, to holiday purchase.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
6 months is a good duration for each placement where a grad can learn a lot and delve into the team's BAU and long term goals too.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
There are so many different ways to gain those skills. Placement teams usually prepare an onboarding pack which includes the tools that the grad will be using, and the relevant training courses as well. I also gained different skills via the day-to-day calls of the team and shadowing colleague's work.
