Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
Really good, the people are so lovely and I've really enjoyed the projects I've been on so far.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I've already got to try lots of different projects, from the more technical side involving programming and data analysis, to stewarding meetings of senior members of the company to get their feedback from the AI trials.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
I think it will take a bit of time to feel anywhere near the level of my senior and management consultant colleagues, but I've already done some meaningful work that could help to extend the lifespan of nuclear reactors.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
Private health insurance, flexible working, offers and discounts.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Very well, as I've already been interacting with and presenting to clients, hosting meetings, and doing other things out of my comfort zone!
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
Learning on the job is right up my alley which is what has happened with most projects, but I have also received valuable training for certain software packages, and I'm also going through the company-wide list of courses such as presentation skills, technical report writing and project management.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
I've had some busy periods and everyone has been very understanding. I was able to be open and honest with my line manager about how much I had on and that was a weight off my mind. I also have a buddy in my team who has had a very similar pathway into the company. But everyone has been so welcoming and friendly!
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Personally I've been coming into the office every day, and the opening hours of my office mean that I can't stay too late or get in too early. Sometimes I leave my laptop in my locker, but when I don't I feel like I'm tempted to log back in and carry on which isn't healthy. But I think the only times I've worked overtime is when I've put too much pressure on myself to make it perfect for a client! It's not expected or encouraged particularly and everyone seems to want me to look after myself and not prioritise work.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Extremely welcoming and friendly office, everyone talks to each other. Very flexible working policies, too. We've had lots of women join the Manchester office so I've not felt out of place in that regard either.
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
2/5
So KBR, our parent company, has sort of ruined any of the initiatives we used to have since they're associated with the US government so had to remove any inclusivity from our websites and we no longer have groups or events as such. That being said, everyone in the company is quite vocal about how awful that is, and I was able to represent FNC at a women in science and engineering conference last month.
How would you rate Frazer-Nash Consultancy CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5
STEM outreach hub seems good, but other than that I'm not very familiar.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Frazer-Nash Consultancy to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Friendly people with lots of young people, as well as interesting and varied work.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
I think the recruitment process was fairly representative of the company, it gave a good impression. I didn't realise how hybrid the job was, and lots of people do work fully remotely which I didn't know until joining.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Frazer-Nash Consultancy?
Be yourself on the interview day, chatting to people and being friendly goes a long way.
