Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at JLR?
My experience on the graduate scheme has been absolutely fantastic. Working with market leaders in terms of modern luxury, there is a lot of experience that has been passed on whilst working with the next generation cars to come. The dedicated early careers team has been supporting me every step of the way, and there are a range of different training courses I have completed, and will complete in the near future such as getting a Yellow Belt qualification, and working with a mentor to work towards my chartership.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My main responsibilities working within Industrial Operations Programme Delivery are:
-Supporting the delivery of a programme (placement dependent) against timing plan
-Obtaining and presenting data to support meetings with company executives on status and risks
-Issue resolution and escalation
I enjoy seeing how the programme I work on evolves, and solving problems that come with launching a new car. Stakeholder management and analysing data is something that I enjoy a lot.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
5/5
My role gives me full trust, and has given me full trust since day 1 to contribute in a meaningful way. Sticking to commitments and escalating when necessary is an integral part of the role, and solving live issues can't get more meaningful. The teams I have working in during my placements value each other, sticking by the "Creators' Code", and do not hesitate to celebrate wins.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
The compensation package is great. There was a £2000 joining bonus to help get settled in. Alongside this, there are set pay rises during the scheme upon completion of the requirements of the scheme, and satisfactory performance. There are great perks such as savings on many many retailers via SmartSpending. I believe that overall we are very fairly remunerated.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
This role is preparing me very well for my future career. The placements allow me to develop on the breadth of an automotive company, and 6 months is enough for depth at this stage of my career.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
We were given a lot of training. Through the company's internal e-learning website, or face-to-face during the Graduate Core Skills Programme. This taught me many skills including presentation skills.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
The support I have received has been immense. Regular 1:1's with my line manager, reviews with the early careers team, having a buddy upon joining the company, and also a mentor through the mentoring scheme for general tasks, and a separate iMechE chartership mentor.
How is your work-life balance?
5/5
Work-life balance is great. There has not been any unpaid overtime, the hours are reasonable, there is flexible hybrid working.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
The culture is great and I believe this can be attributed to the Creators' Code which my colleagues live by. There is the opportunity to work hybrid, but this varies team by team.
How would you rate JLR initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
5/5
JLR has a lot of initiatives when it comes to DEI and Accessibility. There are a plethora of networks that one can join which they identify with.
How would you rate JLR CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
JLR has incredible CSR initiatives. Every employee gets 16 hours per year to complete these CSR activities, be it as a STEM ambassador, or volunteering to paint lines at schools and so on.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I couldn't recommend this graduate scheme enough. The experience of doing multiple placements, the wealth of experience within the company, the incredible products we work on, the warm welcoming and inclusive environment.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
The role was described perfectly clear, and the recruitment process interview questions were very representative of the type of scenarios I have faced at work.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to JLR?
Use the facilities provided by JLR on the recruitment website to practice, and have a good think about where you see your future and pick a graduate scheme to apply to which suits what you have in mind. Make sure you brush up on your presentation skills.
