Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
My first 12 months at Savills have been an incredibly rewarding. From day one, I’ve felt welcomed and supported, and I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable colleagues. Over the past year, I’ve gained valuable insight into the industry, developed new skills, and taken on challenges that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
As a rotating graduate, I am currently finishing my Valuations seat before moving onto Business Rates.
My responsibilities have included loan security and accounts purpose valuations, liaising with clients, and attending site visits across a range of commercial properties. I’ve particularly enjoyed the mix of report work and the hands-on experience of visiting sites and engaging with clients, which has strengthened both my technical skills and confidence in client-facing situations.

As a graduate in the office, I have always felt valued and supported by my colleagues. From the outset, they have taken the time to share their knowledge, involve me in meaningful work, and encourage me to take on new challenges.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
5/5
I particularly value having access to a gym, as it greatly supports my mental health and overall well-being.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
My role as a Graduate Surveyor has been invaluable in preparing me for my future career. With aspirations to invest in assets myself, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and practical insights that I can apply when building my own portfolio.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Savills to friends and family because it has been an excellent company to work for, offering a supportive environment and valuable learning opportunities as a young professional in the property industry.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
5/5
The role matched exactly what my expectations were based on my recruitment process.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
My advice for others applying to Savills would be to ensure your CV is well-prepared and clearly highlights any relevant experience. Having some exposure to property, whether through working for an estate agent, developer, or another firm of surveyors, can be very valuable.
In my case, participating in the Savills Summer Scheme prior to applying for a grad role was extremely helpful, also my entrepreneurial experience running a few small businesses prior to joining was also well-regarded by assessors during the interview process. Overall, showing both relevant experience and initiative can make a strong impression.
