Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my placement at Siemens, which allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. From the very beginning, I was trusted to take ownership of key tasks within the ERP IT Authorization team, where I supported access management processes and collaborated with colleagues across different departments. This gave me hands-on experience with real business systems and reinforced the importance of precision and accountability.
Beyond my core role, I was given the opportunity to lead and contribute to impactful projects. A highlight was the LinkedIn Brand Ambassador Pilot Programme, where I worked alongside my team and mentors to design and execute a strategy to amplify Siemens’ presence on LinkedIn through Gen Z voices. This project involved data analysis, creative content planning, and presenting outcomes to senior leadership, including CEO [This section of the comment has been removed by a

I also engaged in intern collaboration initiatives, networking events, and Siemens-wide projects that required me to work with colleagues from diverse backgrounds. These opportunities not only broadened my skill set but also gave me responsibility for representing Siemens’ values in a professional capacity.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
During my placement at Siemens, I had the opportunity to both develop new skills and strengthen existing ones. On the technical side, I learned how to work with Power BI, SAP, and Panaya, gaining hands-on experience in data analysis, reporting, and system management. These tools have given me a stronger understanding of business processes and how IT supports large-scale operations.
Equally important were the soft skills I developed throughout the year. Through project work, presentations, and cross-team collaboration, I enhanced my communication, presentation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Being part of projects such as the LinkedIn Brand Ambassador Pilot Programme also helped me build confidence in data storytelling and presenting results to senior stakeholders.
Overall, my internship gave me a well-rounded mix of technical expertise and professional skills that I can carry forward into my final year of studies and future career

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my placement quite a lot. It was always a dream to work at an international organization like this and when I finally got the chance I made sure I made the most of it. It was a very enjoyable and interesting experience, worked on a lot of projects spanning a lot of departments and wasn't constricted to just one department or one topic or one field and I guess that is the benefit of working at such a large organization, you're always a part of something different, something new.
