Commercial summer intern Review

- Worked in the professional product division in the E-commerce team on the LookFantastic account
- Performed weekly sales analysis to identify the top and bottom performing SKUS
- Produced a weekly report on trading performance, providing relevant insights and commentary
- Worked alongside the Activation team to create a two-week multibrand campaign on LookFantastic, including designing the CRM materials, the pro haircare webpage and writing a blog article tailored to consumers
- Created and delivered a presentation for LookFantastic’s Q4 promotional plan, recommending individual SKUS to promote and promotional mechanic, supported by analysis of previous promotional performance

I was massively surprised with the amount of responsibility I was given throughout my internship. Especially on the multibrand campaign, I was tasked with individually creating the CRM, pro page and blog and particularly with the blog I was able to take it in the direction I wanted to which enabled me to have great creative freedom and independence and responsibility. Also, I was tasked with communicating with the retailor. Finally, I was responsible for giving recommendations to my team about promo and they listened and took on board these.

I have massively improved my excel skills and feel far more comfortable breaking down data in order for it to be analysed. I also have improved my presentation and PowerPoint skills learning how to make them more concise and visually appealing alongside being easy to follow. Also, I developed my professionalism and expanded my networking and how to interact with different stakeholders.

I was given a great amount of support. My line manager and others who I was being mentored under were great at supporting me and helping me but they also did it in a way that encouraged me to think for myself and take initiative. If I was ever stuck they would go over and explain any queries. My wider team were great at making me feel included and welcomed.

It was very welcoming and inclusive and provided lots of opportunities to connect with different people and expand your network both within your team and across divisions. Especially being an intern there was lots of other interns and you really felt you were part of a community and you could find and connect with other likeminded people and the social aspect was great. It was very social which is something really important to me and you really felt everyone had everyone else's best interests at heart. I really enjoyed going into work each day.

I really enjoyed my internship, I felt I got a great variety of exposure across different areas of the business and my commercial awareness has vastly improved. It showed me where my strengths were and any areas to improve. I made great relationships from it and felt very comfortable to be myself and express my opinions.
