Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes definitely developed my communication skills as I was managing both internal and external stakeholders. Creatively as well I was able design notecards and input on production elements on some activations which was amazing to see once they came to life. The biggest skill I learnt was problem solving and creative thinking; when something doesn’t go to plan such as a planned delivery and an entire event is depending on it, I was forced to think quickly on how to approach it alternatively - this was definitely the best skill I picked up during my internship

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received a lot of support; I had both weekly catchups with my line manager, as well as more formal reviews, both of which allowed me to track my progress and see where to improve on. In general, everyone in my team and in the wider company I found to be very helpful, if I was unsure I never hesitated to ask for help.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture at L’Oreal was one of my highlights; everyone is so hardworking yet friendly and it was motivating to be around such high achievers. It didn’t feel toxic at all, even if something doesn’t go to plan I was never made to feel bad about it which was really nice. The whole company is really social as well and as interns we were provided many opportunities to meet fellow interns and other staff which was great. Coffee chats were widely encouraged and HR always pushed us to speak to as many people as we can and build our network, a lesson that I still take with me now

I really enjoyed the internship both professionally and socially; I learnt so much in a short time and made many connections that I plan to revisit. If given the opportunity to work at L’Oreal again I would definitely take it. It’s a very inspiring forward thinking company, where you can learn so much and be pushed to adapt.
