Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is really varied and rewarding. I look after our apprentices, with a particular focus on supporting younger apprentices (aged 16–18) as they make the transition from school or college into the workplace through our dedicated coaching programme. A key part of my role involves mentoring, offering guidance, and helping them develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
I am also responsible for collecting and analysing apprenticeship data to ensure quality and progress are monitored effectively. I also liaise closely with training providers to make sure learning is aligned, apprentices are fully supported.
No two days are the same, and that’s what I enjoy most—whether it’s one-to-one coaching, problem solving, or strengthening partnerships with providers, my role is all about ensuring apprentices have the best possible experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am really enjoying my Level 5 Coaching Apprenticeship with IODA. I particularly like the way it combines theory with practical application, allowing me to immediately put my learning into practice in my role. The workshops and resources are well structured, and the support from both my coach and line manager has been excellent.
I really enjoy the blend of learning methods, discussions with peers, and opportunities for feedback makes the programme feel interactive and relevant.
Overall, the apprenticeship has been a positive experience, helping me grow both professionally and personally.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed new skills and strengthened existing ones through my Level 5 Coaching Apprenticeship. My active listening and questioning techniques have improved, and I’ve gained confidence in structuring sessions, setting goals, and providing feedback. I’ve also become more self-aware of my coaching style, which has helped me to adapt to different individual's needs.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I have found the programme to be very well organised, with excellent teaching and a clear structure. The support and resources provided have also been of a high standard, which has really enhanced my learning experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received excellent support from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. They have been encouraging and flexible, giving me the time and space I need to complete my studies while also providing opportunities to put my learning into practice.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
IODA have been very supportive throughout my apprenticeship. The trainers and coaches are approachable and knowledgeable, and the guidance and feedback I’ve received have really helped me stay on track and develop my skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification with IODA has greatly enhanced my ability to perform in my role which I can apply directly with apprentices and colleagues. It has improved my ability to structure coaching sessions effectively, and my capability to provide meaningful support and feedback.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are several opportunities to get involved beyond our day-to-day work. We have team events and socials that help build relationships, as well as quarterly in person meetings where information is shared across the organisation to keep everyone connected and informed. These activities make the workplace feel more collaborative and inclusive.
