Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
A very enjoyable experience so far with strong mentoring and potential to network across the business and with other real estate firms. Directors are approachable and the large graduate cohort makes it a fun place to work.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Valuation responsibilities included undertaking inspections, measuring property, compiling reports and gathering credible comparable evidence to value a property. Agency roles include liaising with clients, analysis of pricing and comparable evidence, producing marketing materials, attending client meetings, managing data rooms and maintaining up to date files. I have enjoyed roles where I have been able to get out of the office on inspections and viewings and have had the ability to produce client-facing work.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
3/5
There is always responsibility within every role on each rotation but the degree with which your contributions contribute to does differ. In a valuation role you are responsible for an entire report whereas in an agency role you might only contribute to smaller parts of a project. Client-facing exposure varies a lot between roles.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
Salary- the salary is low given the market-leading status of the business and does not adequately compensate being able to live in London.
Bonus- the bonuses are lower than graduate bonuses at other leading firms.
Health- access to a 24 hour online GP and medical benefits is a good perk of the job
Annual leave- 25 days is a strong amount
There are other good benefits including a rewards scheme and every team is very accommodating with sick leave, maternity leave etc.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
The wide exposure to areas across the business is excellent in not only allowing graduates to discover an area that they would like to end up in, but also allowing for a strong understanding of the property industry in general. The APC mentoring is excellent and they are fully invested in helping you become chartered. The non-cognate route is also excellently accommodated with study days being respected.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
5/5
A strong extent with lots of development across day-to-day work, APC training and university work. There is a constant learning of new skills, areas of the business and a continuous understanding of the APC process in order to become chartered.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
4/5
There is often excellent support but all facets of management and senior people within the team. Each team provides an APC mentor who is very helpful with discussing competencies and ensuring that you are hitting the areas that you need to be, alongside attending your university meetings. Line Managers and team buddys are very helpful with ensuring you understand work and are getting the most out of each day. Some times directors can be detached from working with grads which can lead to a disconnect within the team.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Overall, very strong with a good understanding of personal time. This does differ from team to team and in busier periods of the year but on the whole this is very good.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
5/5
Excellent company culture with a very inclusive environment and good cohesion with teams. There is a large graduate cohort which enables new joiners to feel welcomed and there is always a willingness to help across all levels.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
There is a strong initiative to be inclusive and diverse, with lots of events and networking opportunities aimed at improving this across the business.
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
5/5
Very strong, there is a graduate charity committee and lots of charity initiatives across divisions, including helping out with food banks, charity runs/cycles etc and bake sales.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?

4/5
The role has aligned well with the strong range of rotations that have been offered.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
