Scientific Intern Review

As a Scientific Intern, I had to unlock the claims that the brand wanted to make for a specific product. I also had to review all the material that was going to be used for the product's campaign (i.e. ads). In order to this, I had to familiarise myself with the rules published by the different regulatory bodies and get acquainted with the products being released by our competitors.

I was given a lot of responsibility as I had to help the brands unlock the best possible claims they could use while still abiding to all the advertising regulations in the UK. However, I feel like this was a good opportunity for me to understand what owning your work is like and will definitely help me in the future.

I learnt a lot about the UK regulatory framework. I was also able to better hone my corporate skills, since it was crucial for me to write concise and accurate emails about the status quo of the different projects I was working on to inform the different stakeholders of my progress.

My team was always there for me when I needed them. At first, it was particularly difficult to push back stakeholders but they were able to help me navigate different ways to discuss different deadlines and for them to better understand my needs. I always felt like I could ask them a question regardless of how obvious it felt. Lastly, I also want to add that my team made it very clear that I could always relay some of my responsibilities to them if I felt that I was at capacity,

The general atmosphere was relaxed and happy. It was nice to go to the office every day.

I really enjoyed my placement experience and would definitely do it again if given the chance!
