Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was put on multiple client teams, being given regular client work. Additionally, I had an intern project & charity challenge that went on in the background. The workload was manageable and there was always more work to take on, but not overwhelming. The variety of the client work provided me with a range of tasks to do which was incredibly instructive in learning about the pension space.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

The firm gave us a decent amount of responsibility in that the figures we were calculating were being issued to clients - but not before first being checked and reviewed by senior members of staff. This made for a nice balance of responsibility with less risk.

The team was incredibly supportive! You have regular calls with a buddy and people manager and the entire company is so friendly and will always help if you have a question!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Incredibly open and friendly. Everyone treated us as part of the team from the start, and there was a good group of us interns who also got on really well.

Be friendly, it goes a long way in your interviews! This is a fantastic place to work so put a little extra work into your application. The firm hires from a range of backgrounds so don't stress if you haven't done Actuarial work in Uni.
