Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I am directly responsible for (primarily) sourcing and strategic pipelining, screening and coordinating with hiring managers for both commercial and supply chain, alongside media, marketing and activation; collaborating with two managers respectively. My experience recruiting experienced hires ranged in seniority: from managers to 'Head of' grades - giving me significant exposure towards communicating and selling our EVP to different stakeholders.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Considerable responsibility was given to me during my internship. From day 1, I was both supported as well as encouraged to search for and coordinate with high potential candidates. This cultivated a very entrepreneurial and go-get attitude within the company culture and my wider team. This certainly gave me a platform to excel in. A particular example was when my manager was on AL, I had to support and fill in. This gave me extensive experience on how to manage and execute with excellence, both internally with hiring managers/HR, and externally with the potential profiles. Alongside this I flowed to work and pushed myself with an another Employer Branding project to greater my exposure and make the most of my opportunity.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
This role cultivated and fostered my entrepreneurial spirit by giving me extensive opportunities and responsibilities from day one. Whilst always being confident talking to high potential profiles, this role gave me an insight into the individual roles on offer at L'Oréal, and what makes a high-potential-to-grow profile looks like for each position. This sets me well for a career in HR and Talent Acquisition, Engagement and Retention. Moreover, throughout the day to day intensity of the role, I have supplemented my organisational, time-management and skills. Throughout this internship, these skills have been complemented by the strategic thinking required for future pipelining.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I felt extensive support from both my manager, my direct team and wider HR team. During my week filling in for my manager, I was given both space to learn, alongside the support from HRBPs and my team to ask questions and ensure I execute with excellence. From an intern perspective, the Early Careers team have provided me with significant training, guidance and support to thrive.

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
Regardless of which area you are debating to enter as a summer intern, it is more important to apply and present a professional mindset and willingness to learn. From day 1 be prepared to have opportunities handed to you which can seem intense. However, when these opportunities swing round - from both your team and outside your team - be open to pick them up with a positive approach and deliver them to the best of your ability.
