Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role was in financial services audit and essentially it is examination of company documents to ensure their statements represent a true and fair representation of their performance to stakeholders.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, from the get go I was given great deal of responsibility and the exposure to a live working environment with some of the biggest companies in the UK was absolutely amazing. Having to adapt is crucial for success but they are very good at supporting you.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I’ve learnt a great deal of auditing of course! However specific skills that I have either learnt or developed include client relationship management, communication, time management, and teamwork. Although very ‘basic’ and ‘general’ skills as some may view it but they are incredibly important to succeed at PwC.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

So much. Everyday was a learning curve and I had great contacts to go to for support. From the get go we get training for about a week and then when we are placed on teams to start real work we have a career coach and a buddy who are very good at helping us succeed.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better environment. I was nervous going in as I imagined it was very ‘corporate’ however the Bristol office is a bunch of lovely people who are always willing to help out.
