Actuarial Private Intern Review

As an actuarial private intern, I was involved in a variety of day-to-day actuarial tasks, spanning both technical work and client-focused consulting. I contributed to projects for multiple clients and took on responsibilities such as calculating transfer values and working on funding updates. Additionally, I gained experience in actuarial modelling, which deepened my understanding of the analytical side of the role.

I was given a lot of responsibility during the internship in terms of working on real work rather than dummy exercises, but I was always supported and never given too much responsibility at once.

I have developed and improved a lot of skills including my communication skills, both in person and over emails, collaboration skills and my organisation and time-management skills. I have also been able to develop more technical skills such as excel or VBA skills.

Throughout the internship, we received lots of support and guidance from everyone we worked with and were able to ask any questions when there were things that we did not understand. There was always someone to ask when you were stuck and everyone was happy to help at all points.

The company fostered a fantastic culture where everyone was genuinely supportive, creating an environment where people felt at ease at all times. The consistently positive vibe in the office made it a welcoming and enjoyable place to work throughout the internship.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship from start to finish. The work was consistently engaging, and I gained a great deal of knowledge in a short period of time.
